I began teaching at John and Olive Hinojosa Elementary in the year of 2005. I am currently emplyed at this same school and have had the privilege to work there for about 13 years.
My name is Gina Marie Rios and currently I teach in 4th grade. I teach all ELAR, which means Reading, Spelling, Grammar and Writing. I have been employed almost 19 years with RGCCISD. I started off as a teacher-aide and then obtained my Bachelor’s in Education a couple of years after from the University of Texas Pan American. While teaching for a few years, I continued my education and received a masters in Reading at UTPA as well. I started my teaching profession here at John and Olive Hinojosa Elementary in 2nd Grade, where I taught all subjects. I then had the pleasure of working in Kindergarten for several years, where I enjoyed teaching the little ones very much. This year, in 4th Grade, I will have most of the same students I taught years ago in Kindergarten, but now they’re in 4th grade.

We know how difficult and different these past school years have been. It has not been easy for anyone, but together I know WE can overcome any obstacle that we encounter. I’m excited to Welcome you to the 2021-2022 School Year. I’m thrilled to share a new learning experience with all of you. Some things to keep in mind: Always stay positive, always try your best and never , ever give up...Because giving up is not an option! Please know that I am here for you as parents and especially for my students. I promise to care for them Hello students and parents! Prior to teaching at John and Olive Hinojosa Elementary, I was employed by the same district at General Ricardo Sanchez Elementary as a teacher aide for two years.
I do enjoy spending time with my child. We love watching Netflix with some popcorn and pickles. I also like to exercise and stay fit. Staying healthy is key!
